Krawietz and Mies had to make a formidable comeback: In the match-break, the two were initially 0: 5 behind, then nibbled piece by piece from the Greek leadership. Nevertheless, Krawietz / Mies faced the end on several occasions. Due to the close success, the Germans saved their chance for a place in the quarterfinals in Sydney.

Jan-Lennard Struff had previously led the Germans to a clear victory against Pervolarakis, and Tsitsipas then asserted himself just as confidently against Alexander Zverev . The last group game is against the Canadian team on Tuesday.

"I trust my boys," said team boss Boris Becker after the double in the Krawietz / Mies. At 0: 5, he had already prayed a bit.

The ATP Cup will be held in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney until January 12th. The prize money is $ 15 million, and the professionals can also collect points for the world rankings. Germany will play their last group game against Canada in Group F on Tuesday. The first in the group and the two best and second move into the quarter-finals, which, like the semi-finals and finals, will be played entirely in Sydney.
