The big favorite against one of the two rookies in the field: This is the clash between Novak Djokovic and Casper Ruud. That has only existed once on the ATP tour. In 2020 Djokovic won the semi-finals in Rome, back in September immediately after the US Open.

Djokovic comes to Turin in excellent form, just over a week ago the industry leader won the last ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy with a victory in the final against Daniil Medvedev. Ruud celebrated all of his five tournament victories in 2021 on Asche, but the Norwegian is also getting better and better on hard courts.
