At the end of the group phase, the two-time French Open winner and his Romanian partner Horia Tecau won against Marcel Granollers / Horacio Zeballos (Spain / Argentina) 6: 3, 6: 7 (1: 7), 10: 6. The semi-finals were already out of reach for Krawietz / Tecau due to two defeats at the start.
For Krawietz it was also the last match at Tecau's side. The 36-year-old jumped in at the beginning of the season as a replacement for Krawietz 'regular partner Andreas Mies, who had to undergo cartilage surgery on his knee. The Romanian Tecau will soon end his career, "Kramies" will start together again in the coming season.
"I'm so happy that we won this match," said Krawietz, raving about the time with Tecau: "It was a great pleasure to play with him." The silver medalist from Rio is "a great athlete and also a very nice person off the court. We had a lot of fun, I enjoyed it very much."
In the past two years, Krawietz had failed at the season finale with Mies in the group stage. For the 29-year-old, the season is not yet over, in the coming week (from November 27th) he will compete for Germany in the final round of the Davis Cup in Innsbruck.
