With Daniel Altmaier, the last German player in Hamburg failed in the first round

Tuesday was also anything but a day as desired for the fans of German men's tennis: At the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Hamburg, after Nicola Kuhn in the afternoon against tournament favorite Carlos Alcaraz , Daniel Altmaier also failed at his opening hurdle. After winning the first set, the 23-year-old was beaten by last week's tournament winner in Bastad, Francisco Cerundolo, after 2:12 hours of play 6:2, 4:6 and 6:2.

The Argentinian got off to a bad start - under the impression of his first ATP Tour title last Sunday - but consolidated himself more and more in the course of the game and gave his opponent of the same age from Kempen no chance in the decisive set. The South American's next opponent will be either Russia's Andrey Rublev or Lithuanian lucky loser Ricardas Berankis. The two will not play the last remaining first-round match on Wednesday before 1:00 p.m. on Center Court.

Incidentally, the matches from Hamburg are available live in Germany on ServusTV.
