The first seven points went to the Serbs, and Djokovic quickly moved away to 2-0. Taylor Fritz was only marginally impressed, the American managed the rebreak to zero - everything was back on track. As a result, a curious game developed, Djokovic again took the lead with a break, again Fritz was able to counter, made the rebreak in the last impression to 4: 5. With little long-term success, Djokovic closed the first set with another break a little later.
Now the world number one had slowly found his way into his game, in the second round the Serb hardly showed any nakedness. The final result was 6: 4 and 6: 3 - Djokovic is in the semifinals of the ATP Masters 1000 event in Paris-Bercy. Tomorrow, Saturday, the Serbs will face the Pole Hubert Hurkacz, who in turn was able to defeat the Australian James Durckworth in three contested sets. For Djokovic, Paris-Bercy is about setting the historic year-end number one for 2021. If the Serb can do that, he has accomplished this feat more often than anyone before him.
