Whether Rafael Nadal will be there in Paris-Bercy is still completely open

Only eleven days until the main competition of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy starts on October 31st. And those responsible for the tournament still have a few question marks hanging over their heads. Because it's actually completely open at the moment which top professionals you can count on at the last Masters 1000 event of the year.

There is currently only one fixed cancellation in the nominal field, the American Reilly Opelka has declared the 2022 season over after his hip operation and has not yet officially commented on a return date on the ATP tour. The German number one, Alexander Zverev, is more than a shaky candidate. In a recent interview with Eurosport, brother Mischa hinted that the 25-year-old still needs a little preparation to be competitive again at full speed.

Gael Monfils also at the start in Vienna?

Rafael Nadal is also anything but fixed in Paris-Bercy. The new family man, who tore an abdominal muscle at the US Open as he did at Wimbledon, may decide spontaneously whether he is fit enough to compete in France. The Mallorcan may also want to continue supporting his wife and newborn at home. In any case, ATP boss Andrea Gaudenzi believes that the Spaniard will start at the ATP finals in Turin.

And then there is Gael Monfils: The Frenchman, who has been struggling with foot problems for some time, has also only recently been given fatherly joys. Competing in his hometown would certainly be a big concern for the 36-year-old. The audience's favorite is also still on the "Entry List" of the Wiener Stadthallen tournament.

The four wildcards will certainly still be in great demand at the end of this season. Stan Wawrinka has wisely used one of his Protected Rankings to definitely be able to attend Paris-Bercy.
