Dustin Brown and lawn tennis - it's a very special relationship: a loving one. Brown always really blossoms on the green carpet, something that Rafael Nadal already felt. Twice: 2014 in Halle / Westphalia and a year later even on the sacred lawn of Wimbledon. Incidentally, the latter was the season in which grass was played for the first time in Stuttgart. And Rafael Nadal won the title. The Spaniard currently still has important commitments in Roland Garros, and will probably only serve again with the next major in London after that.
Brown, on the other hand, will start at TC Weißenhof this Tuesday. And would like to repeat his result from 2017. There he was close to reaching the final. The quarter-finals against Félix Auger-Aliassime hung on one or two balls that did not go to the German's taste. The youngster narrowly won - and then got into the final without a fight because Milos Raonic did not make it to the semifinals.
Browm easy underdog
For this year's edition, the organizers have given Dustin Brown a wildcard. The draw brought an interesting task with Nikoloz Basilashvili. Because the Georgian regularly shows his best performances in Germany. He has won three tournaments in this country, all on the ashes, of course: Basilashvili triumphed twice in Hamburg, a few weeks ago also in Munich, where he kept Jan-Lennard Struff in check in his first ever ATP final. A former Wimbledon finalist could be waiting for the winner of the game between Brown and Basilashvili: Marcin Cilic. The Croatian has to win against Rudi Molleker first.
The bookmakers at betway see Nikoloz Basilashvili with odds of 1.61: 1 at an advantage, a win by Dustin Brown would bring 2.10 times the stake. The match is scheduled for the second of the day after 11 a.m. on the largest court.
