Australian Open: Jessica Pegula takes Svitolina out - now against Brady

Jessica Pegula is in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open after a surprising victory over Elina Svitolina.

The world rankings 61. has thus achieved for the first time in the round of the last eight in a Grand Slam tournament. The 26-year-old from the USA beat the world number 5. Elina Svitolina with 6: 4, 3: 6, 6: 3. After Victoria Azarenka, Sam Stosur (6: 0, 6: 1!) And Kristina Mladenovic, she defeated another prominent opponent.

"See you in next round Jen B", Pegula wrote on the TV camera after her victory, and "Jen B", aka Jennifer Brady, granted her wish: Brady won against Donna Vekic 6: 1, 7: 5 - and responded with a "Bring it Jess".

The other two quarter-finals on Monday will play Ashleigh Barty against Shelby Rogers and Elisa Mertens against Karolina Muchova.
