These pictures are a joy: The first tennis aces have already landed Down Under, where the tennis season 2022 will be officially opened in a few days. With tournaments with prominent figures, almost all of the men's elite are honored at the ATP Cup. And with the ladies? There the events in Adelaide and Melbourne can look forward to a real star ensemble.

No less than seven of the top ten players in the WTA charts will be competing in the WTA 500 event in Adelaide. Naomi Osaka, Emma Raducanu and Simona Halep are the headliners at the Melbourne event, which will start one day later - on January 4th.

Corona bad luck for Shapovalov

The former has now landed Down Under, as seen on social media. The Japanese had traveled to Australia by flight for around 16 hours. In the men's category, number two on the ATP charts has already arrived: Daniil Medvedev announced his arrival Down Under via his Twitter account. Grigor Dimitrov has also shared images from the Rod Laver Arena.

However, the arrival in Australia was less pleasant for Denis Shapovalov. The Canadian youngster tested positive for COVID-19 in Sidney and is now likely to be absent from the ATP Cup. To what extent the 22-year-old will be able to compete in time for the Australian Open remains to be seen. Shapovalov's quarantine ends on January 4th as planned.
