"Some of the people on my phone list are very happy when I leave my quarantine," the 33-year-old told the hit radio FFH: "Because they were not entirely safe from my calls."

Your cell phone must therefore "always be charged," admitted Kerber. Born in Bremen, she is one of the more than 70 players who are currently not allowed to leave their hotel room due to infections on the flights to the first Grand Slam of the year. In addition to extensive phone calls, the 2016 Australian Open winner passes the time "playing backgammon with friends and watching Netflix series".

In view of the unfavorable preparation, Kerber emphasized again, "I can't expect much from myself. I'm missing two weeks of training. I have to accept it and try to make the best of it." The Australian Open will start on February 8th, Kerber won in Melbourne 2016 and won her first of three Grand Slam titles.
