Erste Bank Open: Stefanos Tsitsipas defeats Dennis Novak in straight sets

Dennis Novak didn't know what to give the Austrian fans on the national holiday: the world number 155. from Wiener Neustadt had to admit defeat to second seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna 6:7 (2) and 2:6.
After a balanced start, Novak made the first break to make it 4: 3, but Tsitsipas fought back in the next game. The opening set then went into a tie-break, in which the Austrian couldn't recover from a slight smash error when the score was 1:1. Tsitsipas secured the quick decision 7: 2.
Tsitsipas now against Coric
This broke Novak's resistance, Tsitsipas made short work of the second set with two breaks. After 88 minutes of play, the fifth in the world rankings converted his first match point to a 7: 6 (2) and 6: 2 success. He will face Croatian Borna Coric in the round of 16.
Jannik Sinner had previously clearly asserted himself 6: 3 and 6: 2 against Cristian Garin on the center court. Marcos Giron won against Tallon Griekspoor 6: 4 and 6: 2 on the Heumarkt, Dan Evans already bought his quarter-final ticket in the following match. The Briton surprisingly beat Karen Khachanov 6: 2 and 6: 2.
