Before the start of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, Grigor Dimitrov lost three matches in a row, but the Bulgarian has so far shown strong performances in the Austrian capital: After his convincing opening win over Thiago Monteiro, the 31-year-old defeated Andrey, who was third, in the round of 16 Rublev through in two sentences.

Dimitrov got off to a strong start in the already packed Wiener Stadthalle and quickly took a 4-1 lead. The world number 32 left this lead. no longer take, set one went 6:3 to the Bulgarians.
