"It was a great tournament with tough matches," said Ella Seidel (Club an der Alster) after her final win against 14-year-old Sonja Zhenikhova (Tennisclub Blau-Gold Steglitz). “Winning the title is a nice end to the season. Now I'm looking forward to the Australian Open. ”At the first Grand Slam tournament of the year she is at the start with the juniors.

Winning the title in Biberach was not the first exclamation point that Ella Seidel set this season. She won the strong ITF youth tournaments in Repentigny (Canada), Bratislava (Slovakia) and Siaulai (Lithuania) and also drew attention to herself with strong performances at the Junior Grand Slams: In Wimbledon she reached the quarterfinals with the USA She was in the Open final together with her Porsche Junior teammate Carolina Kuhl. In the ITF youth ranking list, she made it into the top 20 for the first time.

The right-hander, who played hockey in Hamburg as a child, did her Abitur in the summer. Now she wants to focus entirely on tennis. Since sand is her favorite surface, her big career goal is obvious: "My dream is to win the French Open one day."

With her success in Biberach, Ella Seidel continued the winning streak of the players from the junior teams supported by Porsche at the German Championships: in 2020 Noma Noha Akugue won the title, in 2021 Eva Lys. This year, six players from the Porsche Talent Team and Porsche Junior Team faced strong competition in the title fights at the base of the Württemberg Tennis Association (WTB).

For men, there was a purely Bavarian duel between Max Rehberg and Jakob Schnaitter in southern Germany. In his second participation in the German Championships, Rehberg made it straight into the final, even defeating the top seeded player in the semi-finals. In the final, however, the 19-year-old lost out to his opponent, who was seven years his senior. Jakob Schnaitter from TC Ismaning was the better player over two sets this Sunday and won 6:3, 6:3. For number 47 in the German rankings, the title in Biberach is one of the greatest successes of his individual career.
