"I had to take a three-and-a-half-month break back then, had rehabilitation and rebuilding training," said Stich (53) on Sky about his injury in Vienna in 1995.

Similar to Zverev on Friday in Paris against Rafael Nadal (Spain), Stich had twisted his foot completely. "When I came back, I immediately won the first tournament and got injured again," said the 1992 Olympic champion. "I used the time to work on my game, identify my weaknesses and challenge myself anew. (.. .) Maybe Alexander Zverev can do something similar."

Zverev had to give up the semifinals when the score was 6: 7 (8:10), 6: 6. He was pushed off the court in a wheelchair and came back on crutches to congratulate his opponent. "As it looked, Wimbledon could fail for him," suspected Stich. "But he's young and I hope he comes back stronger." The Wimbledon tournament starts on June 27th.
