Sports movies are always like a very well honed double-edged sword. Sports fans understandably have high expectations, so they often criticize the films and point out flaws in the portrayal of the sport. The general public can do more or less with their content, depending on their preferences. We'll see how the director Luca Guadagnino of the new tennis movie "Challengers" succeeds.

Challengers follows tennis coach Tashi (Zendaya) who took her husband Art (Mike Faist) from being an average tennis player to a successful one. Due to a career break, Tashi registers her husband in a Challenger tournament. She wants to help him come back again. But there's a catch. Tashi's former partner and Art's former sidekick Patrick is Art's opponent. So conflicts are inevitable!

Famous cast

The film is scheduled for release on August 11, 2023. However, changes to the first broadcast must be taken into account. For the film, Zendaya Coleman, who won the Emmy for Best Actress for her role in the Netflix series Euphoria, trained for months with former player-turned-tennis coach Brad Gilbert. She is also said to have worked on the production of Challengers. Also joining the cast are Mike Faist, who starred on West Side Story, and Josh O'Connor, best known for his role in The Crown, which won both a Golden Globe and an Emmy. Luca Guadagnino has worked on "Call me by your name" and "Bones and all" among others. Such a professional cast gives hope...we're excited.
