Paula Badosa can't get much out of the balls at the US Open

Although Paula Badosa is currently fourth in the world rankings, the Spaniards have had little reason to be happy recently: she was eliminated at the start of the two WTA 1000 tournaments in Toronto and Cincinnati, and preparation for the US Open went well for her 24-year-olds are anything but ideal.

As if that weren't enough, Badosa doesn't seem to be happy with the balls used in New York either. In an Instagram story, the Iberian now expressed her displeasure. In this she posted a picture showing the men's and women's play equipment - and the associated recommendations of the manufacturer: While the men's balls are predestined for playing on hard courts, those of the women should primarily be used on sand and in the hall.

Badosa: "The ball doesn't match the conditions"

Badosa then clarified her criticism to Tie Break Tens. "I think the main problem is that we're not playing with the right ball. The ball doesn't suit the conditions. That's why a lot of players complain," she probably alluded to the statements made by Iga Swiatek in Cincinnati .

Since the balls are lighter than those of the men, they would fly "like crazy", the world number one explained on the sidelines of the WTA 1000 tournament in Ohio. "Maybe we should push a little harder," said Swiatek. Badosa took a similar stance in New York: "That has to change."
