Alexander Zverev would have preferred to have celebrated his 22nd birthday on Saturday at the Rainier III Court in Monte Carlo, as Rafael Nadal was the guest of honor. The Spaniard kept the appointment, but now meets Fabio Fognini, who prevailed against Zverev in the round of 16. Zverev will surely have grief that briefly. In reaction, the native of Hamburg will try to collect game practice and points for the ATP world rankings in Barcelona next week.
Not only on his day of honor, one shouldn't forget what Alexander Zverev has already achieved in his career: ten titles, including those at the ATP Finals in London in November 2018 - and three of the ATP Masters 1000 series. Against opponents who had washed up: First in 2017 against Novak Djokovic in Rome, a few weeks later in Montreal against Roger Federer. And in 2018 in Madrid against Dominic Thiem. All without losing sentences.
So we want to celebrate the German number one. With a few souvenir photos of the successes so far. We have no doubt that many will follow. Today, however, Alexander Zverev has to definitely write off a title: that of the # NextGen mastersr. He has now finally outgrown this as a 22-year-old.
