Daniel Altmaier was eliminated in the first round of the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Geneva. The Davis Cup player from Kempen lost the opening match of his French Open dress rehearsal against Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena 6:7 (2), 4:6. Altmaier was one of two Germans in the main draw of the tournament with prize money of 651,865 euros.
Yannick Hanfmann is in action on Monday. The Karlsruher will face two-time Olympic champion Andy Murray (Great Britain). If he wins, he will face Grand Slam record champion Novak Djokovic (Serbia), who wants to gain momentum for Roland Garros after a few disappointments in Switzerland. The highlight of the clay court season begins next Sunday (May 26).
