ATP Brisbane: Rune becomes first finalist with win against Safiullin

In the semi-finals of the ATP 250 tournament in Brisbane, top seed Holger Rune defeated Roman Safiullin in two sets and became the first player to reach the final.

Right from the start, No. 1 seed Holger Rune wanted to live up to his role as favorite in the semi-finals of the ATP 250 tournament in Brisbane against Roman Safiullin and grabbed his 26-year-old opponent's first serve game right at the start. In the entire first round, the 20-year-old Dane didn't allow his opponent a single break chance and confidently served out the first set without losing any points.

In the second set, the momentum changed several times at the beginning. First it was Rune who started with a 2-0 lead, but then had to concede three games in a row to his Russian opponent. After the interim equalizer to 3:3, both players held their serves without allowing a break chance. In the tiebreak, Rune made a statement and didn't give up a single point to his opponent in the final 6:3, 7:6 (0) win after 98 minutes.

The world number 8 awaits in the final. on the winner of the second semi-final between the number 2 seeded Bulgarian Grigoror Dimitrov and the Nadal conqueror Jordan Thompson from Australia.
