Lena Gercke had come in a short tennis dress, which was a brave choice of clothes in Munich in the early Friday afternoon. Midsummer, which had still ruled in the Bavarian capital in the middle of the week, had given way to the bad weather front that had been announced. Gercke, brand ambassador for the main sponsor of the tournament, unveiled the winning car of the BMW Open 2019. And then faced a short double of celebrities alongside Alexander Zverev, who had driven a new body from Munich in the past two years.

Zverev, underlined the tournament director Patrik Kühnen, who was on the other side of the net in the doubles next to brother Mischa, feels extremely comfortable in Munich in 2019 as well. The German number has been on the Isar since Wednesday, the early defeat against Nicolas Jarry in Barcelona made it possible.

Kohlschreiber trains with Hanfmann

Philipp Kohlschreiber, on the other hand, who was decorated in Munich with a title more than Zverev, had completely avoided competing in Barcelona. Kohlschreiber used the morning for an intensive training session with Yannick Hanfmann, the coaches Tobias Summerer and Lars Uebel critically appreciated the rally. Davis Cup boss Michael Kohlmann had also gathered at the MTTC Iphitos facility, and other aspirants on the outdoor courts were doing well next week, such as Andrey Rublev.

Starting Monday, Kohlmann will not only see his entire national team at work with Zverev, Kohlschreiber, Jan-Lennard Struff and Tim Pütz - but also a man with whom he had worked intensively for several months: Rudolf Molleker. The organizers awarded the last wildcard that was still open. The other two went to Karen Khachanov, currently number twelve in the world, and Maximilian Marterer. The Franke had achieved his best result on the ATP tour in Munich last year with the semi-final participation.
