That had looked so good for Angelique Kerber on the first day of meeting Kazakhstan in the Billie Jean King Cup. Kerber seemed to be on the safe road to victory against Yulia Putintseva, but then lost in three sets.
After Laura Siegemund did not have an order against Elena Rybakina afterwards, Kerber is now under pressure against Rybakina. Should the German number one lose, rainer Schüttler's team will have to play against the relegation from the world group in the fall.
