A few days ago, Nicoals Massu in Salzburg had fallen around Christian Garin's neck - when he made it clear that the Chilean Davis Cup team had entered the final tournament in Madrid with his success against Jurij Rodionov. After that, Massu did not stay in Austria for a long time and started the return trip to South America.
There, however, namely in Buenos Aires, the two-time gold medalist at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens immediately showed a connection to Austria. And frolicked several times on the training ground with Dominic Thiem.
The big question, however, is: in what function? As a sparring partner, especially since Massu hit a few balls with the Austrian number one? Or as an additional coaching option, even if head coach Günter Bresnik started the trip to Buenos Aires. And as Bresnik confirmed to tennisnet, he is currently looking for a coach who could accompany Dominic Thiem on the tour for a few weeks.
Bresnik has sent to some tournaments with Joakim Nyström in recent years or more recently with Galo Blanco Coaches with his protégé. With Nicolas Massu, Salzburg has shown, a character that would stand out from the very reserved Nyström and Blanco.
