"I'm so proud of you!" These were the words of team principal Alicia Molik when Tomljanovic had turned her first match point to equalize for the hosts. Tomljanovic was delighted with the "second chance" she had received after beating Kiki Mladenovic 1-6, 1-6 on Saturday.

The opponent, however, was not Caroline Garcia, who in turn had a swatter on opening day (0: 6, 0: 6 against Ash Barty), for her came at short notice Parmentier (WTA No. 122) used. The Frenchwoman also found the better start to the match and had two breakballs directly, after which Tomljanovic left almost nothing to burn at his own serve. Five (!) To-zero games followed, with the set win and the 4-2 in the second half in between. Two balls to 5: 2 let the world ranking-52. however, lying and Parmentier broke back quite surprisingly. Tomljanovic, however, stayed cool, defeating another breakball 4: 4 with a strong serve and beating them 6: 5 and 15:40.

The doubles must bring the decision, Ashleigh Barty and Samantha Stosur compete here against Garcia and Mladenovic.
