Rafael Nadal will win the Australian Open 2019 because ...
1) ... match practice before Grand Slam tournaments is overrated.
2) ... he learned from Carlos Moya's mistakes in 1997.
3) ... the large courts in Melbourne only play half as fast as the outdoor courts.
4) ... Uncle Toni will fly to the quarter-finals at the latest.
5) … he wants to make the Real Madrid crisis forget.
Incidentally, the odds of Rafael Nadal winning the AO19 are 8.5. Interwetten's top odds for the Australian Open are here!
That says the draw: If Nadal is healthy, he won't be with James Duckworth for long. A second round against Jan-Lennard Struff would be interesting if the German did not come from Auckland after a very exhausting week. Round three Alex de Minaur will run like a young deer but has no weapons against Nadal. In the round of 16 Tomas Berdych could put a little crown on his comeback, but he won't, Nadal plays with the Czech. After that it gets hairy: Kevin Anderson, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, that's what the list of seats would provide.
