Fernandez apparently suffered the fracture in her quarterfinal match in Roland Garros against Martina Trevisan, which she played through to the end - 2: 6, 7: 6 (3), 3: 6 it was finally called.

The 19-year-old had played her way up last year and surprisingly reached the final of the US Open in late summer, in which she lost to Emma Raducanu.
