Sabalenka took a 3-0 lead against the current number 82 in the WTA ranking at the beginning of the first set after just 12 minutes. Both players then brought their service games through, so that the first set ended after a rather unspectacular course after 37 minutes for the favorite.
Udvardy, who has never beaten a top 50 player in her career, was able to serve to win the game early in the second half. However, the Hungarian conceded the break in her second service game, so that Sabalenka was quickly in front again. The next break also belonged to Sabalenka, which made the preliminary decision. After 62 minutes, the two-legged Belarusian used the first match ball to win.
Sabalenka, who reached the Wimbledon semi-finals in 2021, will face the winner of the duel Vavara Gracheva against Camila Giorgi in the next round. Last year's finalist Ons Jabeur is also one round ahead, beating Magdalena Frech from Poland 6:3, 6:3.
