The German dry spell in wheelchair tennis at the Paralympic Games continues. As the only representative of the German Tennis Federation qualified for Tokyo, Katharina Krüger failed in the first round. Against the third-placed Dutch Aniek van Koot, the 31-year-old from the Zehlendorfer Wespen lost 3: 6, 1: 6 in just 68 minutes.
Due to the high temperatures in Tokyo, the game had been postponed to the evening hours at short notice. The last time there was for the German Disabled Sports Association inWheelchair tennis medal in Sydney in 2000. Krüger had always been eliminated in the last sixteen in her four appearances.
