The DTB started the tournament series on June 9th in order to provide German professionals in the corona crisis with match practice and income. The two winners each received a premium of 8,000 euros for their success. "The conclusion of the entire series is consistently positive," praised Davis Cup team boss Michael Kohlmann: "It was a great mix between experienced professionals and hungry young talents." The two top players Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber were not at the start.

The women's final tournament had been shaken up by numerous injuries and illness-related cancellations. Both the Fed Cup players Laura Siegemund and Anna-Lena Friedsam and Katharina Gerlach had to get out early, but Zaja, Korpatsch and Lisa Ponomar moved into the four-man field. Third place went to Ponomar on Sunday, who defeated Nastasja Schunk 6: 4, 3: 6, 6: 2.

Hanfmann benefits from the task

Injuries had also dampened the mood at the men's final tournament, so Oscar Otte had to give up in the final due to a foot injury. In the game for third place Maximilian Marterer benefited from the fact that his opponent Cedrik-Marcel Stebe met his own club in the face in the second set, suffered a laceration and also had to give up.

Nevertheless, the joy about the possibility of competition tennis in the middle of the corona crisis prevailed. "It was a cool thing, we are very grateful that the DTB did it," said Hanfmann: "There weren't that many alternatives, it was a good thing for us."
