It is probably the greatest chance in recent years at a Grand Slam tournament that has arisen for a player outside the "Big Three" after the unbelievable disqualification of Novak Djokovic. After the Serb conceded the break to 5: 6 in his four-round duel with Pablo Carreno Busta , the Serb hit a ball unsuspectingly against the gang - and hit a line judge.

This means that Pablo Carreno Busta is in the top eight at this year's US Open. There the Spaniard now has to deal with Denis Shapovalov. In his round of 16 duel with Belgian David Goffin, the Canadian underlined his brilliant condition and after losing the opening set secured a 6: 7 (0), 6: 3, 6: 4 and 6: 3 success. It is the first Grand Slam quarter-finals for the 21-year-old.

Coric against Zverev

In the second quarter-finals in the upper half of the tableau, Sascha Zverev and Borna Coric meet. Zverev had no problems against the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina in the evening. Borna Coric also acted equally confidently at night, not giving the Australian Jordan Thompson the slightest chance and winning 7: 5, 6: 1 and 6: 3.

Today Dominic Thiem, Daniil Medvedev and Co are fighting in the lower half of the draw for the remaining four places in the quarter-finals. The Austrian meets the Canadian youngster Felix Auger-Aliassime, Medvedev is up against the local hero Francis Tiafoe.
