Tracy Austin was calm until the end herself in the packed grandstand of Court 12 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Her son, Brandon Holt, had delivered a real drama on the pitch. Which ended up not going in his favor. Holt ended his match against Pedro Cachin with a double fault, the Argentinian sank to the ground completely exhausted after the 1: 6, 2: 6, 6: 1 7: 6 (1) and 7: 6 (6).
While Cachin was already able to show on the ATP and especially on the Challenger tour this year (he defeated Dominic Thiem on his comeback in Marbella and then also won the tournament), Holt was a blank slate in qualifying for the last one Major of the year 2022 launched. And not only survived the three qualifying hurdles, but also beat Taylor Fritz, a man from the extended circle of favorites, in round one.
Botic van de Zandschulp, who was defeated in four sets by Corentin Moutet from France, was somewhat surprisingly eliminated early on Wednesday. Alex de Minaur, in September with the Australian team opponents of the German team in Hamburg, also won against Cristian Garin in four sets.
