After careful consideration of all options, the organizers of the lawn tournament on the LTTC "Rot-Weiß" eV have decided that it will not be possible to hold the bett1open later this year. One of the reasons for this was the fact that due to the current developments in the global COVID-19 pandemic, an extension of the current measures by the WTA cannot be ruled out. If you consider the crowded tournament calendar for a possible replacement date, the change of which requires prior approval by the WTA, the only thing left to do is to move the bett1open to the coming year. The premiere of the women's tennis highlight in Berlin will therefore take place from June 12 to 20, 2021!

“We were on schedule in preparation for a tournament this June to offer the tennis enthusiastic Berlin audience and our partners a unique lawn tennis event in LTTC red and white. However, the worldwide development of the corona pandemic and the associated measures and restrictions make it impossible to carry out the bett1open this year. Of course, we support all measures by both the authorities and the WTA, which serve to protect the health and safety of the players, our employees and fans. From now on we will focus on the tournament in June of next year, ”emphasizes tournament director Barbara Rittner .

Weindorfer hopes for optimal implementation in 2021

The lawn tournament at Hundehehle receives full support from Adam Szpyt , the managing director of the main and title sponsor bett1 : “We feel obliged to give the tournament organizers our best support, especially in this difficult situation. We are convinced of the success of this project and will therefore continue to consistently pursue our goal of establishing world-class women's tennis in Berlin in the coming years, ”said Szpyt.

“We have been organizing sporting events since 1991, and in the 30th year of our activity as an organizer, we were hit by an unpredictable global crisis. I want to be with LTTC Rot Weiß at this difficult time with President Dr. Thanks to Dietrich Wolter at the top, the city of Berlin, the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club from Wimbledon and especially our title sponsor bett1. With the support of all our partners, we will continue to assume all the responsibilities within our sphere of influence, as we did this year, and are already starting with the optimal implementation of bett1open 2021, ”explains Edwin Weindorfer , tournament organizer of bett1open and CEO of the e | motion group.
