Iga Swiatek also won her third group game

Iga Swiatek continues to be in impressive form at the WTA Finals. The four-time Grand Slam winner from Poland also won her third group match in Cancun and again remained without losing a set. The world number two gave the Tunisian Ons Jabeur no chance with a 6:1 and 6:2 win on Friday (local time).

In the semi-finals Swiatek will now face Aryna Sabalenka, who qualified for the semi-finals with a narrow win over Elena Rybakina . If Sabalenka wins the duel against Swiatek, she would end the year as world number one. However, if the Pole were to triumph at the WTA Finals, she would receive this honor.

Gauff meets doubles partner Pegula

Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff will contest the second semifinal in Cancun. Gauff beat Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova in her third match 5:7, 7:6 (4) and 6:3 and qualified for the round of the last four as second in the group. Pegula is still undefeated in singles at this year's WTA Finals .

In doubles, however, Pegula has had to accept two defeats alongside Gauff. The third group match against the Germans Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva was canceled due to persistent rain showers with the score at 6:3 and 1:1 for the two Americans. With a win, Siegemund/Zvonareva would move into the semi-finals.
