The many great matches on the ATP tour in 2019 have not only made the fans, but also those responsible for the ATP tour, a smile on their faces. Last season, as many people as never before flocked to the games on the men's tour.
Overall, the ATP was able to enjoy over 4.82 million viewers - thus the previous record from 2017 (4.57 million) was clearly outbid. A total of 63 tournaments took place on the Herrentour in 2019, two of them in Austria. Both in Kitzbühel and in Vienna were also recorded best values.
NextGen Vs. Big three
A big part of the new attendance record on the ATP tour was contributed by the ATP final in London. On eight tournament days, 242,833 fans came to the O2 Arena to see the eight best male tennis players of the year.
If the coming season starts as exciting as the past has stopped, the ATP may in all likelihood look forward to outstanding numbers again in 2020. In particular, the fight between the new generation and the Big Three, which broke out in London, should definitely arouse the fans' interest.
