A coaching job is out of the question for Venus Williams

As a fitness coach at Instagram, Venus Williams shines almost daily during the Corona period. When her active tennis career finally comes to an end, the American legend does not see herself as a trainer in the tennis circus.

Venus Williams as a trainer? That will not happen

For Venus Williams, a job as a professional trainer is out of the question after the end of her career. Nobody listens to the coaches. "You tell the player: win the point and then he loses it," said the 39-year-old in a moody question and answer session on Youtube: "I can't accept that." However, Williams is one of those players who rarely make use of on-court coaching. David Witt, her longtime coach, from whom Venus broke up last year, was usually able to follow his protégé's matches continuously from the stands.

But she likes to be on the court with children. "Maybe I can help them when I'm through tennis and have had a little break," Williams said. The seven-time major winner is not yet in sight of a career end. Williams is ranked 67th in the individual world rankings.

Serena is the best friend on the tour

In the past few weeks, however, Venus has shown that she may be a good coach: she offers a fitness lesson on her Instagram almost every day, mostly with prominent guests. For example, Grigor Dimitrov has already done sport with Venus - albeit from a safe distance.

The American is particularly looking forward to further double appearances with her even more successful sister Serena when the corona break is over. "I love everyone on the tour. But Serena is my best friend, she is my twin partner and she has a great serve," said Williams. However, the last appearance on the side of the sister goes back several years: in 2019 Venus Williams only started in a double competition. And lost with Harriet Dart in the first round of Birmingham.
