Andreeva celebrates her 16th birthday with a place in the round of 16

The triumph of child prodigy Mirra Andreeva continues. At the WTA tournament in Madrid, the Russian reached the round of 16 without any problems on the day of her 16th birthday. But now a very heavy chunk awaits her.

Top talent Mirra Andreevaa reached the round of 16 of the WTA tournament in Madrid on her 16th birthday. World No. 194 defeated 17th-seeded Magda Linette from Poland 6-3, 6-3, becoming the youngest player in history to reach the last 16 of a WTA 1000 tournament. The Russian's next opponent is Australian- Open winner Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus).

Andreeva previously had former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez and world number 14 in Madrid. Eliminated Beatriz Haddad Maia.
