Andrey Rublev needs to be wide awake from the start in Adelaide

After the first day of qualifying for the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Adelaide, one thing is clear: German is not spoken in the individual main draw. Because Dominic Thiem (against Soonwwo Kwon) and Yannick Hanfmann (against Roman Safiullin) already lost in round one of the qualification. This is a pity. There are always exciting games.

That of tournament favorite Novak Djokovic in round one against Constant Lestienne will probably not be one of them. The first real task for Djokovic could be waiting in the quarterfinals with Denis Shapovalov. The Canadian opens against a qualifier.

Murray vs Rublev in round two?

The same goes for compatriot Félix Auger-Aliassime , who will start number two in Adelaide. FAA's potential quarterfinal opponent is youngster Holger Rune. First of all, he prevailed against Yoshihito Nishioka and then against either Mackenzie McDonald or Daniel Elahi Galan.

The draw with Andrey Rublev didn't mean well: The Russian has to play against Roberto Bautista Agut right away. And could meet Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals, who will face returnee Kyle Edmund in round one. Incidentally, Rublev's possible second round opponent is Andy Murray. But he first plays against Sebastian Korda.

Daniil Medvedev remains from the favorites, who didn't exactly get it easy with Lorenzo Sonego either. In the round of the last eight, Medvedev would meet his compatriot Karen Khachanov as scheduled.

Defending champion Gael Monfils will not be competing in Adelaide due to injury.
