At the very end it looked as if Holger Rune's feat of strength was still in question: The young Dane led against Maxime in the final round of qualifying for the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo Cressy with 6:3 and 5:2, Cressy equalized again with a rebreak. Rune, however, who first won yesterday in San Remo in the final of the ATP Challenger in Sanremo against Francesco Passaro and beat Radu Albot a few hours later at the start of the qualification, won the last two games and moved into the main field of the first 1000s on ashes this year one.
Jiri Lehecka was also able to secure a place in the 64 tableau. The young Czech made a big showing in Rotterdam this year, reaching the semi-finals as a qualifier. Lehecka won against Benjamin Bonzi 6:4 and 6:3.

Oscar Otte, the only German representative in the qualification in Monte Carlo, had to admit defeat to Jaume Munar 0:6, 7:6 (8) and 2:6. If Otte doesn't slip into the field as a lucky loser, Alexander Zverev will be the only German in singles in the principality.
