Anyone who beats Novak Djokovic in an ATP tournament naturally deserves the title. And if this championship is also achieved by having Andrey Rublev, the newly crowned champion of Monte Carlo and at the same time the defending champion in Banja Luka (last year the tournament took place in Belgrade), then Dusan Lajovic is very special to congratulate. Even if the Serb showed nerves again at the end: After 2:32 hours of play, Lajovic had won the last match of a tournament for the second time after Umag 2019 with 6: 3, 4: 6 and 6: 4.

With this win, Dusan Lajovic will move up 30 places to 40th in the ATP world rankings. Andrey Rublev remains solid in sixth place.

Jamie Murray and Michael Venus had already won the doubles title in Banja Luka yesterday. The two veterans beat Francisco Cabral and Aleksander Nedovyesov 7-5 and 6-2.
