Rafael Nadal still has the options to prepare for the French Open at the tournaments in Madrid and/or Rome. However, the current level of fitness of the Spanish grandmaster was not good enough for a start in Barcelona and thus for a hunt for the 13th title there. Which is why the organizers had to announce on Friday that Nadal will be absent this year.
The last match Rafael Nadal played was in round two of the Australian Open earlier this year. Since he was defeated by the American Mackenzie McDonald.
