Florence. Antwerp. Basel. These three stations will certainly play a very special role in Felix Auger-Aliassime's career. Because within three weeks the Canadian has won titles two to four in his career there. The premiere also took place in Rotterdam this year.
In Basel, Auger-Aliassime prevailed against Holger Rune, who in turn had won his second championship on the ATP tour in Stockholm last Sunday. After the reasonably smooth 6:3 in the first round, Rune had a breakball when the score was 4:3 in the second set, but was unable to use it. Auger-Aliassime took the decisive trick to make it 6:5. And served afterwards.
The winners in doubles were determined before the singles final. Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek won 6:4 and 7:6 (5) against the two Frenchmen Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
