ATP Belgrade: Holger Rune handles Garin, Miomir Kecmanovic potential Thiem opponent

The Danish youngster Holger Rune made an excellent start at the ATP 250 event in Belgrade and clearly defeated number five seed Cristian Garin in straight sets. Dominic Thiem could meet Miomir Kecmanovic in round two, who didn't give old master Richard Gasquet a chance.

Made-to-measure start for youngster Holger Rune in Belgrade: The 19-year-old caused a small surprise in round one of the ATP 250 event and defeated clay court specialist Cristian Garin 6: 3 and 6: 1 in two sets. The Chilean has had some notable success, especially on clay, but hasn't really gotten going so far this year. Rune could face Taro Daniel or Dusan Lajovic in round two.

Also in the round of 16 is Miomir Kecmanovic. The Serb, who has been in an excellent mood to play over the past few weeks, gave veteran Richard Gasquet no chance and bought his second-round ticket in two sets. This could now go against Dominic Thiem. Assuming the Austrian wins his first game on the ATP tour after an injury break of almost ten months. Thiem meets John Millmann tomorrow Tuesday.

The number one in the world, Novak Djokovic, is going to work in Belgrade. Andrey Rublev will serve as number two in the Serbian capital.
