Carlos Alcaraz is back. And with a win. The second in the world rankings, who has not been able to play a match since leaving the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy and missed both the ATP Finals in Turin and the Australian Open, won his opening match at the 250 event in Buenos Aires against the Serb Laslo Djere with 6: 2, 4: 6 and 6: 2. Alcaraz has already reached the quarter-finals, where he now meets Djere's compatriot Dusan Lajovic.
Cameron Norrie, number two of the tournament, had even bigger problems. The Brit had to go into a tie-break in the third set against local hero Facundo Diaz Acosta and finally won 4: 6, 7: 5 and 7: 6 (6). Norrie will again play against an Argentine in the quarterfinals, namely Tomas Etcheverry.
Dominic Thiem is not quite there yet. After his opening win against Alex Molcan, the Austrian has to face Juan Pablo Varillas today (from 5:30 p.m. live on Sky Sport Austria and in our live ticker). In the event of a win, Thiem could meet Lorenzo Musetti, who will initially have to deal with Pedro Cachin.
