ATP Cologne: Alexander Zverev easily reached the quarter-finals

Tournament favorite Alexander Zverev made it into the quarter-finals of the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Cologne without any problems. The German defeated Fernando Verdasco 6: 4 and 6: 1.

It's that fast in a 28 grid when you go into the tournament as number one: Alexander Zverev only had to win one match and after beating Fernando Verdasco 6: 4 and 6: 1 is already in the quarterfinals of the first of two consecutive ones ATP Tour 250 tournaments in Cologne. Most recently in Roland Garros, Zverev had only reached the round of 16 after three match wins, where he lost to the young Italian Jannik Sinner.

The tournament favorite left no doubts against Verdasco from the start. After 37 minutes of play, Zverev confidently served to win the first set. The Hamburg native also started with a break in round two, the next followed to make it 4: 1, after which Verdasco could not win anything. After only 63 minutes the match was history. Zverev will meet South African Lloyd Harris in the quarterfinals on Friday.
