Can Alexander Zverev maintain his streak even in the difficult year 2020? Since 2016 he has always reached at least two ATP finals and won one tournament. He reached part one after reaching the finals at the US Open and now in Cologne, part two could take place this afternoon.
For this, however, another series would have to be held, but from the point of view of Felix Auger-Aliassime (ATP No. 22) it was a rather unpleasant one: The 20-year-old has played five finals so far, but lost all of them (without winning a set), including this one Spring in Rotterdam against Gael Monfils (2: 6, 4: 6) and in Marseille against Stefanos Tsitsipas (3: 6, 4: 6).
The direct comparison of the two also speaks in favor of Zverev's series: The world number seven leads 2-0 here, both matches took place in 2019 - in Monte Carlo (6: 1, 6: 4 for Zverev) and in Beijing (6: 3, 6 :1).
In Cologne, both actors have so far almost harmed each other, only giving one sentence each. Zverev won 6: 4, 6: 1 over Fernando Verdasco, then 6: 4, 3: 6, 6: 0 over Lloyd Harris and in the semifinals 7: 5, 7: 6 (3) against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina ; "FAA" first beat Henri Laakonen 6: 4, 6: 1, followed by a victory over Radu Albot 6: 3, 6: 0 and one in the semifinals over Roberto Bautista Agut, who was seeded at two, 6: 3, 1: 6, 6: 3.
