Ebden had played his way through the qualification to the semifinals of the ATP Tour 250 tournament, defeating Karen Khachanov on Friday. In the game against Medvedev, the Australian kept up well up to 4: 4 in the first set, after which his groin gave him trouble. Ebden then had to give up in the middle of the second set.
Thus, Daniil Medvedev is in the final in Marseille for the first time, where he will definitely meet a French. The second match of the semifinals will be played by Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Ugo Humbert. Regardless of the outcome of the final on Sunday, Medvedev will replace Rafael Nadal as number two in the ATP world rankings one day later.
