It's been almost a year since Dominic Thiem sustained his serious wrist injury in a match against Frenchman Adrian Mannarino at the lawn tournament in Mallorca. The Austrian had to postpone his comeback time and time again, only in April of the current season did he begin to cautiously feel his way back, which experienced a severe setback with the smooth first-round defeat against Hugo Dellien at the Roland Garros Grand Slam tournament.
In the meantime, Thiem has decided against starting at the ATP Challenger in Perugia in order to resume the fight for important world ranking points and self-confidence. Instead, the Lichtenwörther intersperses a broad training block in Burgenland and in between enjoys the sun, water and nature at Lake Neusiedl and addresses his fans from there via Facebook.
"These steps are really important to my process"
"Hey guys, it's been a while! I've spent the last few days on Lake Neusiedl on the one hand and on the tennis court on the other. Lake Neusiedl is a great place to recharge your batteries and I love the fascinating nature. My training sessions focus on that, an immense number every day to complete tennis strokes," writes the Lower Austrian.
And thoughts seem much more optimistic after the sobering days in Paris: "These days were very good for me, fired up my energy and showed a development in training. These steps are really important for my process."
