Top-class addition to the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai: Andy Murray will start thanks to a wildcard at the hard court event in the United Arab Emirates. The organizers announced this on their website on Thursday.
"We are delighted to welcome Andy Murray back to Dubai. Despite the limitations imposed by a series of injuries, there is no doubt that his remarkable fighting spirit is as strong as ever and that he is still the best of the sport. Of course nobody can write off his chances of success and it will be very interesting to see him compete against such a strong field here," said Tournament Director Salah Tahlak.
Murray will serve in Dubai for the first time since winning the tournament in 2017. He faces competition from Novak Djokovic, Andrey Rublev, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jannik Sinner, among others. Defending champion Aslan Karatsev has also announced his participation. The starting shot for the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai will be on February 21st.
