Feliciano Lopez will end his career in Mallorca

Feliciano Lopez will say goodbye to the tennis courts this year and hang up his racquet for good. Feli, a Spanish tennis legend, announced a few months ago that in 2023 he will end his long and successful career as a tennis pro. The Mallorca Championships have now announced that, due to his impressive career and valuable contribution to Spanish tennis , Feliciano Lopez has been awarded a wild card for the ATP grass tournament to be held at Mallorca Country Club from 24th June to 1st July 2023.

The 41-year-old Lopez is very happy about the invitation and explains: “I will play my last professional tournament in Spain in Mallorca. Mallorca is a spectacular place and one of the most important tourist destinations in the world. A tournament like the Mallorca Championships helps to continue this evolution and I'm delighted to say goodbye here." It will certainly be a farewell in style.

Lopez with four titles on turf

Over the years, the left-hander from Toledo has achieved numerous successes! Lopez has seven ATP tournament wins in singles, six ATP triumphs in doubles and a double title at the French Open in Paris. He also holds an impressive record with 79 consecutive participations in Grand Slam tournaments and at least 20 starts in each of the four majors!

Feliciano Lopez, at a press conference in Berlin, expressed his joy at being able to say goodbye to Mallorca, playing on the courts where he celebrated his 500th victory on the ATP Tour in 2021. All good things come in threes next summer - the island lover has already taken part in the two previous editions of the tournament and will now end his career on his favorite surface in his third and last appearance on Mallorca. After all, the flagship athlete has won the majority of his ATP individual tournaments on grass - namely two in London's Queen's Club and two in Eastbourne.

With Lopez, the field of participants in the Mallorca Championships will receive another top-class addition after the Australian crowd favorite Nick Kyrgios confirmed his participation at the end of last year. Glamor and show are guaranteed at the tournament, which is endowed with 984,805 euros .
