Gael Monfils has fallen out of the top 50 of the ATP ranking after nine years

The future will not be easier for Gael Monfils: The popular French tennis artist lost 90 points in the ATP ranking after the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy and, as expected, flew out of the top 50 in the world list. A practically historic turning point for the Parisian, since he has been a member of the top 50 tennis men since July 29, 2013.

But everything has to come to an end, which was painfully demonstrated to tennis fans in September with the example of Roger Federer. It remains to be seen how long "La Monf" will be able to put off the inevitable. The western European, who missed more than half of the 2022 season due to persistent foot problems, recently promised on his Instagram account that he would make a big comeback attempt next season.

At the age of 36, getting up again for the French is probably a small Herculean task, especially since with the current ranking list position, settlements are always unlikely, even at smaller ATP World Tour 250 events - from Grand Slam and ATP Masters -1000 tournament you don't even need to talk.

At least away from the tennis court, the year 2022 had a wonderful surprise in store for Monfils. In mid-October he became the father of a daughter with professional colleague Elina Svitolinam, who answers to the heavenly name "Skai".
