Novak Djokovic (ATP #6), Felix Auger-Aliassime (#8), Carlos Alcaraz (#1), Andrey Rublev (#9) and Hubert Hurkacz (#10) have one thing in common these days - against 19-year-old Holger Rune it was called "last stop". At the last Masters tournament of the season (ATP Finals excluded), the Dane sensationally beat five top ten players in a row on his way to the title and was crowned the youngest winner in Paris since 1986. Not only the first win in a Masters 1000 for Rune, but also the simultaneous breakthrough into the top ten in the world rankings.

Fourth ATP final in a row and 19 of the last 21 matches won speak for themselves. The man of the hour is Holger Rune and has now given his early commitment for the ATP Tour 250 tournament at the MTTC Iphitos. In Munich, the shooting star won his very first ATP tournament this year. At the traditional tournament, which will take place from April 15th to 23rd, 2023 for the 107th time, Rune has his sights firmly set on defending the title: “I am very happy to be returning to Munich. It's a special place for me, I was able to win my first title here and of course I want to try to defend it next year," says Rune , who with his Masters victory is now the number one substitute for the upcoming ATP Finals in Turin.

“Holger is a highly talented and exciting young player who we already trusted with a wildcard at the BMW Open by American Express 2022. Of course, we are very happy that he is currently playing so successfully and all the more so that he is coming back to Munich next year," says Patrik Kühnen , tournament director in Munich.
